My sister is very good Robinia re these matters and just recently she said that the government will NOT leave anybody without money. You can ask for a "crisis" loan or emergency one - you should be able to go to where you get your money and they should issue you there and then with a cheque. Hope I have given you true information.
I haven't heard the term 'dole' for a while.
Have you been given a reason?
Do you 'sign on' each week or fortnight? You could ask then to save making a phone call
Which benefit is it?
If it's a new claim it for contribution based JSA it can take a while- I once had to wait over 6 weeks- while they await details from HMRC/DWP or whoever about NI contributions

On hindsight Robin (think I called you Robinia) sorry - never ever change ie from single to joint account cos "Dole" can't cope even with the smallest query.
Some years ago a friend of mine had been waiting a year for monies to be paid to her and backpaid at that. I followed her query in the building I was in and was told it was here and there. I ended up going to at least 3 other buildings where I finally was told it would be seen to. She got her money about a week later.
I think we all need more details from Robin before knowing the solution - in the main JSA claimants have to attend the Job Centre on a regular basis, so perhaps the word 'Dole' has been used incorrectly here.
