Hey i would like some questions answered about my query.
So here is the story, me and my friends were at a night club which suddenly my friend got hit by something or someone, i turned around seen him holding his head. I then retaliated and hit him with a glass jug, the jug smashed and I was kicked out by bouncers and arrested on the scene and taken into police custody. The other guy was not caught and fled. Cotton swab tests were done from the blood on my hands and i was interviewed (all my clothes were also taken) In the interview i explained the situation as stated above, as they probably witnessed me hitting the guy on CCTV with the blood on my hands. I am on police bail at the moment and must return to the police station fairly soon. This is my first offence with GBH w/intent, The victim fled and hasn't reported back to the police for the damages caused. I am 19 years old and a student, i was wondering what will happen to me? Prison? community service? a fine? thanks in advance. i am extremely worried and hope to gain some answers.

So you hit the other guy with a glass jug yes?
If your //friend got hit by something or someone//, who did you hit with the jug?
If it's with intent then you will go to prison. Sorry I can't be more optimistic.
pack a toothbrush...
Do you have a solicitor?
You say you are on police bail, have you been charged?
some friend if he's not going to back up your tale!
you might want to acquaint yourself with this site

And don't collect your £200-00

Yeah i did, only because he hit my friend first, i haven't been charged yet i need to return to the police station on the given date since the investigation hasn't been completed. I used the duty solicitor at the police station
What is going to happen is that you are going to court for GBH Section 18, which is always a prison sentence! You are looking at a minimum of 3 years in jail ( more like 5 years as there was no element of self defence)
Plead guilty and you get an automatic 1/3rd off the sentence so you might get out in 2 years! Go not guilty and get found guilty and you will do the full 5 years! From your story you have NO chance of being found not guilty so just accept that you are facing several years in jail!
choose your night clubs better.
I think if the police thought it a very serious crime then you would have charged and kept in custody to appear in court the following day.

I wouldn't predict what the DPP will recommend. They are well known for poor decisions.

dannyk13, I see, so what do you think will happen when i come back to answer police bail? in a couple weeks time
That will totally depend on what the police decide to charge you with.
Question Author
dannyk13, what sort of charges am i looking at ?
Not all the circumstances of the case, witnessess etc I couldn't say but I would expect a charge of GBH.

Eddie...you always say this but it's rubbish. A prison sentence might be the guidelines but that's not what always happens.
