I have a ball that has a circumference of 88 inches, what would the diameter be please? And that is going to be a very heavy concrete ball :-)

The formula to find the diameter is circumferenc e divided by value of pi. So 88 / 3.142 = a diameter of 28 inches (approx)

Flonska, they are used mostly for ornamental garden features, fountains and for keeping vehicles off the grass etc. I am now going in to making Atlas Stoned, these need to be made to a specific weight and harder than normal concrete to survive being dropped, however, a 28 inch ball is going to be a bit heavy for most people to lift, even weight lifters, but who knows.
An easy way (for me at least) is to use a 'Richter tape measure' often used by foresters and arborists for getting the circumference of trees.
The circumference is measured and the tape is simply turned over, to tell you what the diameter of the tree, without the need to chop it down.
If you are doing a lot of ball making, then one of these tapes might be a worthwhile investment.
