Abbey, you should maybe tell her the whole truth this time round... Just tell her like you tell all of us - why are you so hesitant about talking to her ?

Dear Mum, I have got another job and the care home have dropped my hours

Not again!!!!

It's not same

Try doing it as an interpretive dance, treat it as a warm-up for Christmas fun.

Abbey/ Haven't you asked this before  ..at 30+ years old, you should not be worrying about how to speak to your mother about anything.  Is your mother very strict with you?

Question Author

She's negative

Just say you've decided to specialise in care/housekeeping and have been successful in securing a second housekeeping job instead of the Home Bargains job

Are you frightened of her?

Did she query your two week's unpaid leave from Home Bargains?

^ two weeks' unpaid leave

No I've quit

Abbey, you should maybe tell her the whole truth this time round... The care home dropped your hours as they felt you weren't up to the job - but that didn't stop you from looking for and getting another job very quickly. Unfortunately, the 'other job' is another one that you don't like, so you've now got more cleaning work lined up. Ideally, of course, a full-time job would have been ideal, more reassuring for any mother!

I think the 'specialising in cleaning/housekeeping' is perhaps a bit of a stretch right now - Abbey couldn't cope with full-time hours in one job, and she hasn't even started the second part-time  one.

Ok so you have quit Home Bargains. I did doubt the 'unpaid leave' or thought it was precusor to their releasing you. But did your mum not query why you weren't in HB? If she did, you can now give the great news of another job already.

No my mum said leave if I don't like it

So what's the problem? Surely she'll be pleased you've secured something better to replace HB.

Abbey, has your mum ever asked why your care hours were cut back (so drastically)?

I understood abbey fudged things a bit so her mum didn't realise how she was spending her hours between the 2 jobs

Thanks, NMA.

Abbey, wasn't it over a  month or so ago that the care home cut your hours? I do think you should tell your mum, but I think she could be a little hurt that you've been keeping things like this from her. I know I would be if it were my daughter!
