What Shall I Do About This Job?

Yesterday I got a txt from my job at the care home to say there is no point doing 3 hours per week so will send my p45 and next week wages. Think I might have told you this but they reduced my hours from 30 to 9 hours per week I'm now in a cleaning job cleaning houses 21 hours per was longer Monday-Wednesday but I'm not sure about so hoping to do warehouse work.I regret my decision now to change my days in the care home. I've not had a good day today as supervisor giving me a hard time saying I haven't touched things when I've tried to clean them and it's bad cleaning she find it hard to believe I was a cleaner . They reckon I'm not listening but concentration is my weekness

Abbey/ I have to say that you seem to be spending a lot of time posting to Answerbank while at work - no wonder your work suffers!  You can't concentrate on laundry tasks!

But you were diagnosed as a 5 year old over 25 years ago.

If it was still relevant your school would have provided a support worker and you would still have a support network.

Abbey, with your previous experience of cleaning and housekeeping, I don't think it's unreasonable for employers to expect you to grasp things relatively quickly. Didn't you surprise, disappoint, some of of your new colleagues last week, when you had so many difficulties? You seem to have had major problems settling in to any of the new jobs you've started recently.

No cleaning I understand they thought I would pick up fast but I told them I haven't done laundry before. Hopefully job centre will help now I've applied

Thanks, Abbey - but didn't you get moved to the laundry because you were ... less than great at cleaning? You didn't do well with that in the care home either.  And even though you haven't 'done laundry' before,  you seemed to write off that latest role very quickly. I'm trying to make sure you have a realistic picture of events, rather than getting bogged down in stuff about reviews and harking back to some of the treatment you've had! I hope the job centre will be able to help - just remember they're not miracle workers.

Abbey, concentrate on the laundry and practice what they say you needed help with. Was it the ironing, folding, loading, drying, or what ? I used to all of that years ago while my wife was working on Saturdays.

I can't believe you are 30ish years old and don't know how use an iron. Does your Mum still do your ironing for you?

Abbey, as your options seem so limited right now, couldn't you just knuckle down to the laundry job? The supervisor might go away, for hours at a time, but aren't there colleagues who can help you if you get stuck, don't know something? You seem to be giving up on everything... and very quickly.

I do do my ironing but customers in my place pay for professional ironing

Abbey, are you not willing to learn how to do it 'professionally'? Maybe you could be good at it, some people are! You really do need to acquire a few skills, things that make you employable. What would YOU say your strengths are?
