what do i need to work in a childrens home or to become a psyciatric nurse? returning back to the work force in sept and dont no if i need certain qualifications for the above. thanks in advance for any help x

undoubtedly need qualifications for both, some form of care qualification for a childrens home.


i would suggest contacting ncma about qualifications to work in a childrens home etc

I mean no disrespect to Theo, but I think that the link he provided may have little relevance for working in a childrens' home. The National Childminders' Association mainly works with pre-school children and there are virtually no children of this age in residential care. (They will normally be in foster care). The young people in residential care are mainly those for whom foster parents can't be found. In the vast majority of cases this means teenagers. Those who work within the homes are residential social workers. Details of this type of work are here:
