i don't know where to go from then on, i want to work in an advertsing agency doing something more creative then just researching.
i'd be grateful for any advice

There is an opinion amongst a good number of graduates that just having a degree somehow entltles them to start mid way up the corporate ladder.
A degree is an entry level qualification. As a commercial photographer I see a lot of graduates applying to my company to work as photographers. Without exception I have never met one that has the right mix of skills and experience to enter the profession at that level. Lots have creativity (or think they do) but none have the commercial nouse to deal with stroppy art directors or agencies or have any idea how to behave in a pitch meeting. Skills that, to me, are fundemental yet never taught to graduates. I have to say that I am more inclined to offer work (still in an assisting capacity) to a person who's final year was spent in a placement position with a photographer. That way they gain the right kind of skills necessary to offer a valuable contribution as a team member.
My business sector is seriously competative. If I take someone on they need to hit the ground running, I can't spare the time to knock off the rough edges that the universities insist on bolting on to them. I'd say it was a similar position within the advertising industry.
i thought i'd have to start at the bottom, even though i have got my degree, i have to agree with you that i would'nt be confident in applying my skills in the industry as i have no experience. i'd feel more comfortable in assisting with advertising rather then lead!. all i know at this point is theory, nothing practical.
Thanks for the advice, i think i may look to gain experience first and become more confident in the industry.
Thank you
