Don't bother, the world is learning English.

Cue "arrogant" comments..........

For about 30 - 40 there are some very good self teaching language programmes. One I have, ' Learn to speak Spanish' , is by 'The Learning Company' and is a complete interactive course. The only extra needed is to buy a microphone so that you can record your voice and play it back with an immediate assesment of how you did. In other words it understands and evaluates your pronunciation. This is the web site:

The only thing I can say from experience and having done a bit of teaching and going(to learn)at night school, is that if you can tie the language in with a local evening class your progress will be more rapid. There is nothing more motivating than having someone patting your back (metaphorically speaking) cos you did well. Hope this helps.

Well you should either choose Spanish as it appears to be heading to take over from English in America etc.... or Chinese as they have the largest number of people speaking that language.

I speak english, because I was born here. I also speak fluent italian as my folks are from Italy. I speak fluent spanish as I studied this at college as I found it easy coz of my italian. As I do kung fu, I have recently starting Chinese (bloody hard!). Languages are always good to learn. Helps me when im ordering italian, chinese take-away or tapas!

Hey there,

I think the best way to learn a language is to spend some time in a country where this language is spoken. So maybe you want to combine learning a new language with a trip to an exciting country where you can also do a language course? There is a website where you can find many language schools and language courses. Some of them are really interesting like an Italian languge course in combination with an Italian cooking course. So maybe you want to check it out. It's www.languagecourse.net

Have fun with it and I hope you learn a language:)
