im about to finish school and want to be a airline pilot but i dont know what to do from there on or what gcse's i need. what shall i do. i live in manchester so do i have to move.

You can't obtain an airline pilot's licence until you're at least 21 and it can be a long haul to get there. There are several routes into the career but they'll all involve a great deal of study. Some airline pilots pay tens of thousands of pounds towards their training. There are cheaper routes but there's tremendous competition to get free training.

Whatever route you follow, it's likely that you'll need some good A-level results. A-level Maths and Physics may be required:

A pilot neighbour of mine paid �70,000, yes, that's SEVENTY THOUSAND POUNDS to become a commercial airline pilot so if you have the money, got for it!!!

Primarily because of the less expensive costs, we, here in the U.S., see a lot of foreign nationals, especially Brits, coming to the U.S. for flight training on Student Visas. There are numerous large and small flight schools, many accredited and associated with Universities. Two of the largest are Embry/Riddle with two locations; one in Prescott, AZ and the other main one in Daytona Beach in Florida. Another that trains pilots for airlines worldwide is the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. The significant advantage for training at facilities such as these is the granting of a graduate or associate degree along with the requisite pilot's certificates (their called certificates in the U.S. vs. licenses in many other countries) as well as their close relationship with many client airlines...
