my friend says that her school are going to make it a policy that girls have to wear a white, beige or another very pale coloured bra, as the school uniform includes a white blouse/shirt.

Can they do this at a state (don't know if it affects the situation) school?

They can decide what other clothes/makeup/jewellery they can wear....so I don't see why not.

A reasonable amount of makeup. No extreme hair cuts and basic stud earings. That's the rule at my kids school. As they are boys it doesn't effect them...

This was a couple of weeks ago, and i jsut asked her if it was any pale colour or jsut white and beige and i was mistaken, they are thinking of making it so you can only wear white/ beige.

But its only in the summer and a few people in spring and autumn that you can see them on, because they have black jumpers to wear.
most schools have a policy on how much and what type of make up can be worn, which is similar to dictating the colour of bra worn at school or what amount /type of jewellery can be worn, so its feasable
We were told in the 60s that 'girls must wear white under their whites'..Nothing changes :o)...

My schools stricter, 'only dye your hair a natural colour' 'one stud or hoops smaller than a 10p coin, per ear' 'no ear stretchers' But because we wear dark polo shirts, you can't see even black bras under them.

The makeup thing has got to do with it because ummm said that they can have rules on jewelrry and makeup etc so why not on bras, but if they have no rules on make up or jewelry why should they create rules on something that is often less visible.
anything other than a flesh coloured bra would show through a white shirt. if the girls are just flaunting their undies, I think it's fine for the school to have a policy on such things.
Because some girls will wear them to flaunt it and distract the boys...

cazzz, they have emo's and goth's who wear the chunkiest eyeliner you have ever seen and they can have up to two stud in each ear and boys one stud per ear.
my daughters schools demand "plain black socks" which for most of the time if she wears trousers cannot be seen, its a similar policy

But like i said sara, most of the year, most girls have their chest ocvered up with the jumpers.
And makes the boys randy...!!

Its the worst state school in a 15 mile radius and apparantly ' they think they can improve the standards by having stricter rules.' But there's no point in having strict rules if half the pupils smoke/drink alcohol/take drugs and the teachers are baby sitters, where only the very top classes barely pass the subjects.
