Can anyone tell me what the sentence is likely to be for attempted rape and GBH? The offender has previous convictions for violence (different victim). The injuries received involve tearing to the vagina, bruised head and jaw and various scratches.

The victim in this case is my daughter and the offender her ex boyfriend.

He needs castrating, sick sick person, these prisons are too much like holiday camps, and people seem to get away with all sorts these days, i really do hope and pray he goes down for this, and your daughter gets herself sorted with counselling, and treatment ......(((hugs))) for you and your daughter. xx
unless you have already done so, pls take your own photographs (however painful the thought) and keep a note of all operations, xrays, appointments and the like!

the barrister will need to have a full victim statement before the trial and you will have it ready prepared!

She has a victim support officer who will do all that for her cath. I doubt she will want anyone to take more photos of the intimate injury though as she understandably feels thoroughly violated already.
I'm quite sure that the medical staff who have already examined daffy's daughter will be able to provide explicit medical reports to support any case, cath, they'll take their own clinical photos if they need so.

By the way, before anyone judges me for posting this question I would like to say that my daughter asked me to so we could possibly get some idea of what punishment he will get. I have told her that when we know the actual charges we can find out the sentencing guidelines then.
Thanks again for all your kind words.
Nobody's going to judge you, daffy - I am sure that others are as horrified as I am, at what your daughter's gone through.
As boxy said the last thing on my mind was to judge you Daffy, I just hope that he gets the upper end of a GBH sentence (I spent 7 years in prison for GBH- nothing to do with rape or assault against a woman I hasten to add) so you never know your luck, hopefully he will get his just deserts. Meanwhile stay strong and stay safe and might I suggest that she doesn't stay at her current address, just in case, if he's not yet in custody- not meaning to frighten you but I just think that might be a sensible precaution.
I'm not sure whether it will make you and your daughter feel any better, daffy, but on the (quite likely, IMO) assumption that this scum is quite rightly sent down for a number of years, he's going to have a SERIOUSLY unpleasant time in prison...
"before anyone judges me for posting this question"

why would anyone do that ?
the emphasis was on having *your own* copies!

these people change jobs and films can be lost!

We all know how some people on AB can be judgemental sometimes.

My daughter has a friend staying with her and has been given a panic alarm that links to the police (not sure what it is called)
Point taken, cath, but a photo or report on a patient record is all scanned into central patient records these days.
does it go to the through to police contact centre?

is he on remand or out on bail btw?
Words just can't do justice to how appalled I am by this horrible attack. There's precious little I can do other than echo what everyone has already said - awful, just awful.

He is on the run cath, the police haven't managed to track him down yet. They nearly had him but he escaped through some gardens/fence hopping and has disappeared for the moment.
No constructive advice from me, I just wanted to say I hope the vermin gets everything he deserves.

Oh Daffy, heartbreaking to read, thinking of you all and hoping they catch this monster as soon as possible.
Oh Daffy how awful, no advice sorry, just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and your poor daughter.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. Stay strong.
