disconnect gas cooker

Do I need a gas engineer before I can take the cooker out or is it possible/OK & easy to disconnect it & seal off the supply ?

If it is recent it will have a quick-disconnect coupling which you can undo yourself. If not you need a gasman.

It's about 10yrs old. Is the quick disconnect coupling obvious, I mean how do you tell which it is......sorry, thick about this.

Where the hose meets the brass push UP and turn simultaneously. It will disconnect and the gas supply cuts off automaticaly. The connection is often very stiff if it hasn't been removed for a while. Use gloves. I'm a tiler and have to move cookers most days.
