Does anyone know whether the bin men will take extra bins away?

I had two normal rubbish wheelie bins (house next door was empty for months- so i nicked theirs). Now after putting them on the end of our street to be emptied, ive only the bloody one! Do they, in their infinite wisdom calculate how many houses there are and how many bins and take one away if it appears to be an 'extra' one?

I've scoured up and down our street and the sodding thing has definitely gone. The annoying thing is I know I wasn't entitled to 2 bins so can't ring em to ask/complain.

Somebody has definitely nicked it, mine got nicked (again) on Wednesday. I had one go missing a few months ago, despite the fact that it had my address painted on all 4 sides of it. I then 'aquired' another one and put my house number on that one. Whilst I've been using the new one, my old one has re-appeared every week, still clearly displaying my address! Who on...

Maybe someone nicked it. I've had quite a few bins nicked.
Our bin men are very goo, and will empty however many bins they find out front. Two out of the four houses on farm are empty just now, so I've nicked next door's bin and am having a clear out.

I can't imagine the bin men would take away an extra bin. Where would they put it on their wagon? How would they know that the empty house was really empty and that there wasn't about to be a new occupant.

More likely someone else on the street has pinched it and maybe hidden it in a back garden?
Our bin men are very good, not goo....
just how much rubbish do you have BOO ?

Who on earth would carry on using a bin that clearly isn't theirs, they could at least have sanded my address off!!

Anyway, my new bin has disappeared this week so if my old one is there next week, I'm re-claiming it!
did you have your house number painted on it? If so have a walk and see if it's been returned to the wrong place. Or the rubbish lorry may just have run over it or something and taken it away without telling you. This has happened to us. You should just be able to call the council and get a new one.

haha, no, not now!
Sneak out in the middle of the night and shove bags of rubbish in the neighbours bins.

:-)

Dont think i can do that Jno, as i wasn't entitled to it anyway was I? It's one household bin per house innit, and I acquired the 2nd by thieving it.

Probably Karma!
You could phone the council and tell them your bin has gone missing. The one left behind "could" belong to the empty house.
We can request new bins on the council website. I asked for a new black recycling bin and I got a plastics one as well, no questions asked.
just hide the other one behind a flower pot or something, they're not to know, and report your first one gone. The worst they can do is tell you to take a hike.

Just checked our council's website ummmm, they charge for replacement bins- bugger that!
the local yobbery went through a phase of burning wheelie bins a few years ago - all it leaves is a ring of molten plastic and the wheels.
