An organisation I belong to often books us in for a meal at a local pub. We are packed in like sardines and I feel that this is not only uncomfortable but also unsafe. Is there any way that I can find out if there is a limit to the number they should accept.

Public Houses have a maximum capacity set by their fire regulations, not sure quite how you would find that information.
....or you could just not go!
It's all down to distance of travel to the nearest exist and the width of that exit. Mamya is slightly incorrect as it is set by the Local Authority fire officer in relation to the above. All places of business (especially those occupied by the public) should have a Fire Risk Assesment' in place

You could ask to see this but I can image the reply!

Thanks all thought that was the case.
The pub will have a Premises Licence which will be on public display. It tell the hours of opening and might give the maximum capacity for the different rooms.
