Purchased a car - had a 3 month warranty on it ended a few days ago .

I noticed last night that some of the heater elements on the rear screen are broken and part rubbed off ; which means that the screen is not clearing across the horizontal where the elements are damaged ,on the screen .

Is the garage still legally liable for putting it right - would a claim stand any chance of being succesful ?

IMO it depends on what the warranty says but I'd suspect that wouldn't be covered and was bought at scene.

To my way of thinking a three month guarantee is just that - had you purchased the vehicle at the beginning of the summer then chances you wouldn't have used the heater for much longer than three months so....am sorry to say my opinion is that you have no claim but am very happy to be proven wrong.
I'll type that again and this time check the tech hasn't changed anything.

IMO it depends on what the warranty says but I'd suspect that wouldn't be covered and was bought as seen.

I now spot you say the warranty has run out anyway. So I'd suspect you have no likelihood of it being done for free.

It's one of those things that i only had cause to use , recently
exactly what my previous post pointed out and exactly what the garage will point out (I suspect!)
As already said, your warranty has run out, so I personally don't think you'd have much chance :(

However, all is not lost - there's a cheap and easy way to repair it.
You need some conductive paint:

generally speaking warranties aren't worth the paper theyre written on, and whatever they say they do not take away your rights under the sale of goods act, fit for purpose, reasonable length of time etc. etc. however, from experience car dealers are nightmares to get your legal rights from
