We purchased some furniture which cost nearly £1000, paid for in in full then after it had gone through we were told the goods would take 10/14 weeks. Is this legal or should they have just asked for a deposit until the goods were ready for delivery.....as now we have receive the goods 16 weeks we had to wait and when it arrived it was a complete mess, the sideboards joints were all showing, one corner was severely damaged, there was a crack in the corner unit which had been stuck with glue and the glass was too big for the TV stand. Can anyone help with advice, I am going to trading standards tomorrow see what they suggest......I'm gutted they have had our money all this time....

Have you in the first instance contacted the Company about this damage etc on delivery?

If you have and they have refused any recourse then go to Trading Standards, but you must register your complaint with the Company first.
Foret about the '10/14 weeks'; it's debtable as to what a reasonable period of time might be for the delivery of such items.

Concentrate on the fact that the goods you received weren't 'fit for purpose'. You've never legally 'accepted' the goods and therefore retain the right to a FULL REFUND. Demand it!!!
agree BC

delay in delivery is never a reason to rescind a contract
I read that on the internet
a little after I had actually done it (!)
These furniture firms are a rip off. Normally they do not even put the order into the manufacturer until you have paid in full.
