A colleague is being stalked & harrassed by an ex-friend.
She has received threats of violence and serious abuse. The ex-friend has gained access to my colleague's msn account and sent abusive emails from there, she phones her mobile, home number & has just started calling work. My colleague has changed her home number is in the process of changing mobile, she has also cancelled her msn. Last night the ex called my colleague's daughter.
Understandably, we feel v protective of her but will not do anything to exacerbate the situation. We just want this to end as soon as possible. Any police/lawyers that can shed any legal-light on the situation?

i know someone who had similar problems. She went to her local police station and told them what was happening. She didnt go as far as an injunction but the police did go and see the person who was harassing her and luckily it stopped there. The police did keep everything on record though should it start again.

get your friend to keep proof if possible of any texts, calls, emails that the person is sending and get her to at least talk to the police about it.
This is easy

It is a crime

go to your local cop shop and report it.

Stalking's a bit political at the moment after one Police Force was publicly criticised for failing to take action in respect of a woman being stalked by her ex and he then killed her. As the Police should be taking such reports seriously now would be a good time to report it.
