I drive an articulated lorry (juggernaut) and sometimes if I'm on a job near to home would come home overnight and park the cab unit outside my house instead of driving the 50 miles back to the firm's yard where I'd parked my car earlier in the morning. Makes sense doesn't it? However, a couple of my neighbours are complaining because of the noise the unit makes when I start her up in the morning. I have to leave for work at just before 6 to drive down to the yard if I've come home straight from a job the night before. They're telling me it's illegal to park up cab units overnight in residential areas; are they correct?

seems to be local bye-laws rather than legislation - you need to contact your local council.
well, i feel a bit sorry for you. you start up, you leave. where i live people pull up with music blaring in the early hours and sit there with engines running. this annoys me, but if youre just going about your business i think theyre being petty. hope you find the law on your side.

Should've added I've recently moved into where I live now.
Where I used to live it was never a problem. Are my new neighbours right or wrong?
There may be a deed of covenant which stipulates no work vehicle on the site. Did you sign anything similar when you moved in?

I am awoken each morning by my neighbours, either the boy racer and his huge exhaust which I can hear as he leaves the street and still hear it when he reaches the other end of the village. And my other neighbours who run their deisel 4 X 4 for about half an hour while getting the kids, their bags and each other in. I slept with my window open last night and I had several lung fulls of overpowering exhaust fumes this morning and I live 3 floors up. Yuck.

Someone complained ot my plumber friedn about his van being parked outside his house, he just pointed to his tax disc and said "see that? It means I can park where I like". I don't know about lorries though, sorry, just wanted to hijack your thread and grumble a little.
