Cost of postage stamps
I believe that this question has been posted before, but here goes. Is it legal for a shop to sell postage stamps at more than their face value ? I was charged 2.40 today for 6 second class stamps. It wasn't until after I'd posted the letters that I thought "I'd been done". Any thoughts please.

Ok, Here's the answer from the Royal Mail:
".. retailers are not permitted to charge more than the face value of a postage stamp. Retailers are bound by a set of Terms & Conditions when they sell any of our products. We take very seriously any reports of retailers who overcharge for stamps (ie for more than their face value). Customers can complain in writing to:

Hi Everybody - here I am with an update.
I have had a reply from Royal Mail and I have also spoken to them - the upshot is as follows : If Royal Mail supply the retailer direct, the retailer/shop is bound by Royal Mail's T's & C's. If the shop buys the stamps elsewhere and then sells them he is NOT legally bound to sell them for face value. They tell me it is a very grey area, and that it ruins Royal Mail's reputation. However, they also told me that they are in the process of investigating my local shop. I just don't like getting ripped off.
