Debt Collection Letter
5 Answers
I have received a letter from a DCA chasing an amount for a fella, I've never heard of him. I spoke to the DCA and they said they will remove my address from their records but also told me that this blokes name cannot be removed from my address unless he says so! The strange thing is, a couple of weeks ago a company tried to deliver some furniture to my address that I had not ordered, they had my door number and street but not the name or postcode, I sent them on there way but now I'm wondering if my address is being used for fraud. Any advise would be appreciated. The DCA told me to contact Experian?Equifax so find out where they came across my address. I've been on Experian website but it offers my credit rating and says if I ask for somebody elses I will be commiting a crime.

Probably because people live with their parents alot longer now and it isnt fair for the parents if they get in debt. I doubt your house is being used for fraud why would anyone have something delivered there when they know someone else must live there.
good advice there i just wanted to add that his name not being removed seesm common practice now, as at my last address i couldn't get TV installed as the previous tenant had never cancelled his subscription (don't know why not!!) so they couldn't install a second one in a different name. I guess that it's because it would be easy for you to ring on behalf of the person with the debt and pretend they've gone and you don't know where. Any way the point being, it doesn't necessarily suggest fraud.
