i was charged with taxi touting last week. I was walking towards my car when a man pretending to be lost approached me whilst i was waiting to cross the rd towwards my parked car. I asked him if he was ok as he looked lost and confused. He said he was lost as he was not from the area and that he was trying to get to his hotel in kings cross , london. I pointed out to him he was walking in the opposite direction and that he had to walk the othher way to get to kings cross stn. He seemed genuinely lost. As i was going past kings x stn on my way home and it was only 500 metres away i said to him il drop him off there where he can get his bearings again and find hiw way from there as he claimed he would. No mention of any reward or money was made by anyone. I was going to do it as a act of kindness. I like to think if i was in a large city like london and was lost being from another area someone would direct me and help me like i was willing to do. Anyway as we walked towards my car he pulledout a warrant card and identified himself to be a policeman. He arrested me, handcuffed me, and placed me at the back seat of my car. He then prepared a statemtn on the roadside and asked me to sign it, which i refused. We then went to police stn and interview was conducted. In interview we contradicted each other as to who approached who. Also i asked him to confirm if i had asked for any money or did he offer any money in return for a lift. He confirmed i NEVER. He also confirmed that he DID say he was lost and was looking to get to kings cross. I was still charged with taxi touting. After interview he changed in his behaviour towards me. Pre interview he was cocky, confident and friendly. Post interview hee was seething because i asked him if money was involved in our convos. Presumably no money or reward=no touting or very difficult to prove!! Will this get thrown out of court do you think? Feedback would be grateful....thanks

Init....firstly you are not compelled to believe what i have to say, and secondly you claim touts park their cars on double yelow lines along ttct rd/oxford st. Where in my thread have i said my car was parked illegally on ttct rd/.ox st? my car was actually parked on st.giles street...some 200 metres away, parked LEGALLY - yes LEGALLY! I will return to keep everyone updated on the outcome of this trial regardelss of the outcome. I think you should listen to HC, and Eddie....common sense and calm headed individuals who actually make points after reading the evidence and forming a judgement based on that, and evidence alone. Unlike you, you seem like a chap with a hatred of anyone arrested by the police wheter innocent or guilty. I was originally charged with 2 offences. One charge has already been dropped! I presume you think they felt sorry for me and they dropped it? I guess if a madman is ranting on about crime, who knows nothing about crime then i rest mycase in trying to educate you any further....better ppl have tried, so i dont think its worth me trying!!!!!

The police doing a sterling job? now you are the joker.....100 yards from ttct rd orner there are cocaine dealers selling drugs to clubbers, hotdog stands, touts, allsorts.....the fact of the matter is the police wanted to get into the warmth of the police station to get out of doing real police work hence my arrest! So you reckon they dropped the charge for a laugh? or because they realised that was one cock up with another to go? As for st giles street it is NOT all double yellow lines....in fact my car was parked LEGALLY.....can you not read anything? yes LEGALLY! thats what law obiding citizens do!! I think you need to read the thread from the start.....you simply dont get it do you? READ and return! your right if i pleaded guilty i would prob get a 100 quid fine, if that....but seem as though i never commited any offence i feel it my public duty to challenge it in court, albeit at taxpayers expense, to clear my good name.

London's most prolific taxi rapist was a black cab driver (warboys)....some 120 women have come forward. Prior to his arrest the police were as ignorant as you i presume, hence the time it took to arrest him!!!!! im sure you will say the police done a wonderful job there too? no doubt!

Hi Eddie, coincidently i received the copy of the tape this morning! I spoke to a lawyer from the cps on monday complaining that i never received any papers or statemtns, and that time is ticking by etc and he kindly sent me a copy of the police interview which i received today. I listened to it several times and i have to sayeven to the untrained ey or ear in this case, its beyond belief how this has been aloowed to go to court. The police officer in interview kept interupting me when asking me a question, im surprised he shut up for more than 5 seconds without interupting me. he admitted i never asked him for money, or he offered money, he admits he was 'looking' for kings cross rd, but he constantly kept going on about me approaching him. its funny if im walking towarss my car which is north, and hes walking south in the opposite direction there comes a point when our paths will cross at some point, whos approaching who? hes saying im approaching him, i said he was appraching me, he clearly gets agitated in interview and its pretty clear he is only interested in me saying i approached him, which i never. Anyway i got an appt with a solicitor next week, who will give a one hr consultation for free she said. So hopefully i will know how to approach the court case in december. I have to say init has a ignorant streak in him, but its comedy value at best, lol, thanks for the response...i will defo let you guys know the outcome and keep you up to date regardless of the outcome....

init you really are begining to sound like a madman....just because the police suspect someone of a crime doesnt mean a crime has been committed! Let me give a you a really good example, last year the police stopped 102, 359 ppl under section 44( i was once stopped in vauxhall under this guise) and out of all those people not ONE person was ever charged with the offence with which they were stopped and searched! thats 2 premier leaugue football stadiums full of people, not ONE arrested or charged with that offence! Now theres a stat for you to ponder....please read carefully before answering as you have a tendency to make things up as you go along without reading the actual evidence or thread....so try reading it AFTER you have popped those special pills your doctor gave you to keep to 'sane'....regards!

wolf I agree, taxi touting maybe a problem, but surely to eradicate that problem the police could be doing things like actually taking a cab, gathering proper evidence, having corroborating evidence which can be presented in court, and if convicted the offender should have his licence taken away for a period of time, or his car cruched, that would probably sort it out...but to entrap people going about their business is a bit much i think. I actually think they arrest people just to get dna for their databases. I have no sympathy for taxi touts, i just think if the police arrest someone they shoud do so with clarity as to why they are doing it.

Could he be a tout that has been prosecuted? A hackney cab driver? Someone who knows you, Churchill?

Hi hc....it does seem strange for that person to be so personal. I dont know of anyone who would do that or know me on here. I suspect he is a black cab driver...but i could be wrong, but its my hunch. A black cab driver would know that st giles street has single yelow lines and parking bays for cars like i was parked in. He seems to think its a double yellow line and red line route, mind you what black cab driver ever adheres to traffic lines when picking up passengers......they seem to think box junctions are desingned for them to pick up a fare!!!

All I will say is I hope proper justice is done. Wrongful arrest and prosecution does happen, I know.
Dread to think what innit is like re paedophiles, murderers, rapists and arsonists. He wants to see you hung, drawn and quartered. You've got to find humour somewhere. :)

This is a reply I have written and not yet posted before eddie 51 cowardly removed me from this thread because she couldn't face the truth.

So the Officer said that you approached him and you tell us that he is lying. This is a little glimpse of the other's side of the events. Is there something else you are not telling us to get our sympathy.
The courts will deal with this case of alleged touting and will give it's verdict. You feel that it might go either way. If you gave us all the facts without withholding relevant facts I think you would get a lot less sympathy here. You might have got advice, yes, but not sympathy.
I and anybody I know have never been stopped under Section 44. Where do you hang out and what kind of people do you hang out with? You were stopped by police for some reason before? You didn't mention this. Most law abiding people wouldn't even know about this law.
Glad you realise and agree that touting is dangerous and should be stopped. You hope the police get arrests with clarity and the scum will own up, saving taxpayers money. Dream on. You can now experience it yourself how difficult it is to convict the real tout. They will deny and lid until blue in the face. Courts have a tough job.


So lets continue and after 7th December we will compare the notes.

Even thou I will report to you the truth directly from the Court so you are not blinded by the whining of the alleged tout. One sided story and you are all in arms, each others arms. Open your mind and face the possible alternative that the alleged tout is laying. The Policeman's report is contradictory to chirchill123's. So one of them IS laying. I have already explained why I thing it is not the Policeman.
