Do you think the outcome of the sueing by those two gay men against the christian hotel owners would have been the same if the hotel owners were of a different religion (that's equally against homosexuality) such as Islam?

Which of the hotel owners' human rights would have been affected by providing a room in their commercial premises to these bona fide customers as British Law requires?

Please explain.

If these people have prejudicial views about selected people at variance to British Law, then perhaps running a hotel in their home is not the wisest career option.
.
That's what they should have done Mike...but like many religious folk they couldn't help taking the moral high ground.

Unluckily for them it cost them....good..!
And something being unacceptable in someone's eye's doesn't make it right either.

As I'm sure you'd be the first to whine about if someone refused to serve you at a shop because you weren't Jewish for example

Despite all the claims to the contrary, eh, doc ?

If you can't agree to abide by the statutes in place regarding your obligations as a business.............you ought to re-think whether it is the business for you to be in.

You may not believe it to be 'right'.............but it ain't legal to discriminate.
Doc....they were on telly today. No they did not know what it was like. He made the booking over the phone. He said had he seen that they were deeply religious and only offered double rooms to married hetro couples he would have just looked for a different hotel.
Doc whether it was a 'put up job' or not the law was tested and found to have been flouted.

This is done everyday, underage teens sent to shops to buy alcohol/cigs/fireworks etc to give but one example.
funny how difficult it is to distinguish between high moral principles and self righteous prudes isn't it?

No...I don't think it's harsh. I would have awarded them the whole 5k. In the eyes of the law in this country the couple are married.

There are many things I don't like but I'm of the mind of live and let...who who the hell I am to stand in judgement of anyone else.

Doc - Same-sex stag/hen parties and the like, cause a whole load of problems; many hotels in Blackpool *won't* accept bookings (some will with a hefty deposit) and will turn groups away if they have attempted to hood-wink them.
What amazes me is that in my young days, when homosexuality had recently been decriminalised, no one would have batted an eyelid at the thought of two young men sharing a hotel room (albeit with twin beds). It made sound economic sense.
Doc, have you got your passport??

How come hotels are not sued on a daily basis for not accepting single sex parties etc.

I suspect it is because it does not advance the cause of the pro-gay brigade.>>

You don't think

it might have something to do with hoteliers experiencing rooms being damaged, drunken behaviour etc
.
Doc, it seems that you are only too eager to embrace one third of the description of the Navy, Rum, but balk at the other two, viz Sodomy and the Lash.
