dresses! advice needed

ok so i'm more of a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms kind of person and my mums making me wear a dress! she says theirs laws! and you not allowed to wear flat shoes only high heels will do. she's making this crap up! besides i can't wear high heels because i have a torn ligament in my toe and am only allowed to wear flats but she wan'ts me to suffer!so i'm wearing a black maxi dress with a jewellery pattern very girly which was expensive (£150.00) and a short minin flowery dress which is also girly but i like cause it's more my age than some old woman in a maxi dress, which was only £5 in tkmaxx and i just wanna wear it but how do i tell her without upsetting her feelings? i mena i don't want to wear a dress anyway!
