Unlock Glitter MJ was not found guilty of anything. Innocent until proven and all that...
I think GG should be featured as he was a big part of the 70's. Also the Beeb don't want to give him another chance to get some publicity by complaining.
Michael Jackson was never actually found guilty or was as nasty as Glitter. I'm sure if he had downloaded images to his computer or gone in search of kids to have sex with as GG did, he would be hated just as much.
The ONLY reason Jackson was not found guilty was because he was rich enough to pay tens of millions of $ to the parents of the abused children to persuade them to drop the cases and change their evidence. He paid $40,000,000 to Jody Chandlers mother to get her to alter her statement.
Jackson had staff who' sole job was to find children for him to abuse, he had other staff who's job's were to keep the parents out of the way and pay them off.All this is in the court records .
I`m sure it`s got it`s place but not on my computer. I don`t want to lose the impetus to interact with people face to face or by telephone.
I was in St Lucia a few years ago and every morning when I came downstairs, my friend was on Facebook. It was February and someone posted a photo of some snow and my friend said she "Oh look, it`s snowing at home. I wish I was there". The last thing I would want to do on holiday is be reminded of home.
Whoops LOL I don`t know how I posted about Facebook on this thread. Sorry.
I don`t think Gary Glitter should be edited out by the way. Although I saw a TV ad in the States a while ago that was using one of his songs. They obviously don`t know about his past.
A huge number of football stadia use Rock And Roll Part Two - which they call The Hey Song - as music in intervals, and when televisied, GG gets thousands of dollars as co-writer of the song.
I don't think editing history is healthy - even when it is cultural history - people have their place for a good reason, and their subsequent behaviour does not alter that.
He had some great songs. There are quite a few artists who later did things they shouldn't have- I don't thing we should remove them from our musical heritage. In fact, although I abhor what GG did, he has served his sentence
