Which film has the best 'twist ending'?

I'm going to spend some time over the next few months, raiding LoveFilm and Netflix for the best 'twist in the tale' films, and I'd like to get a head start with a list of films to view.

I've already seen quite a few (No Way Out, The Sixth Sense, Passengers, The Others, The Village, Orphan, Identity, Les Diaboliques), and need to compile a list the next lot to view.

Any suggestions?

Did you understand Vanilla Sky, jenna, the whole thing was a bit twisted to me, the same as Mulholland Drive, which had twists but I don't think I understood them. :)

Okay - so far the ones I've not seen are Coma and The Sting.

They are now added to my list.

Jenna1978 - yep...I saw Identity too and it has probably the most mind-frying endings ever. Had to watch it again the following day to see how I was fooled.
for a weird turn of events Mulholland Drive

Cheers...will be adding Seven Pound to my list (have seen all your other suggestions).

Wow - this is BRILLIANT...why didn't I think of asking on this site before...!
No, I just kind of drifted through it and lost interest in the end, not my kind of thing. The most memorable twist ending for me was Saw, I always annoyingly pick up on a lot of twists but never saw that one coming!
The Usual Suspects is my favourite but I also enjoyed The Others and Sixth Sense
Sorry, that was to Rocky, not you sp :) Identity was quite something!
Maybe not the best and maybe not 'high brow' enough for you lot but it is the first I remember.

Planet of the apes.

I was only a kid and remember like it was yesterday.

Thanks for the suggestion of Memento, but I've seen it and it just annoyed me (because I have a ridiculously short attention span and am not too good with juggling plot devices in my head).

Snags and Ellipsis - thanks but unfortunately, although I've not seen them, I know the endings (thanks to a blabbermouth partner).

Yep, already saw that as a kid, and the ending bothered me so much that I literally can't watch it again.

Thanks - I've seen The Tourist and loved it (although it got pretty poor reviews). I didn't even know there was a twist coming...which is probably the best way to watch a film with a twist.
Yep I remember planet of the apes, quite a shock at the end, statue of liberty sticking out of the sand.
The Departed.

Unfortunately, I guessed the twist in The Others before I saw the film. I actually got it from the poster (but it came out shortly after The Sixth Sense, when there were a slew of 'twist movies').

Still flipping good though.

snags - thanks...seen it!

Not Titanic then RH?
Question Author
Okay - so The Sting, Seven Pounds and and Coma.

That will start me off nicely (and I bet Netflix and LoveFilm have none of those!)
What a shame, sp1814, but it's still worth watching even if you know the ending. I've seen it many times on Sky movies ...
