Does anyone know why Pointless has suddenly switched to showing repeats when the jackpot hasn't been won in the current series?

Wednesday's was episode 70 (series 7) so was propbably the last of the series
Its Pointless Celebrities all next week.
Yes it is annoying especially when you watch it everyday, we have seen the repeats, why don't they just stop it until the new series, switched over last night to The Chase with Bradley Walsh.
The repeats aren't too bad as most cannot be remembered. I assume the next series is some way off as they were asking for contestants at the end of each of the series 7 episodes which suggests they haven't started filming yet. They have an annoying habit of showing half a new series and then dropping back to repeats.

You are right Oleanda. I received the next two weeks' of the Radio Times this morning and Pointless Celebrities (aptly named in some cases) is on from Monday to Friday each week.
The trouble is with Celebrities their ego's are much higher than their general knowledge.
I applied to be a contestant on the very first series of Pointless, and my partner and I easily won against six other pairs . Never heard another thing although one of the pairs we beat appeared on the programme.
Mmmmmm, a fix then.
never watch it

is it worth having a look?

1st rule of tv quizzes is don't pick likely winners. They cost too much in prize money!
We watch it every night, excel. We really enjoy it.
The OH likes to watch the programme, I view it as it says on the tin - Pointless.

How can it save the BBC money not having clever contestants. If the prize is not won ,it carries over to the next programmes. So how can it save money.
pointless answers during the show bumps up the jackpot?
The main prize carries over but the likelihood of a pointless answer diminishes so no £250 additions to the bank.

Seeing as TV costs £1000's of pounds per second to make I doubt they are that bothered.
They are currently recording the next series - someone I know recorded their show on Monday but it will not be shown until February.
