just read in the news about a primary school cancelling their nativity play in case it offends the muslim students.

Am I missing something here or this the most unbelievable thing I ever heard?? Regardless of the fact that the child may have come from another country of their parents/grandparents have come from another country - they have still come from another country and if our customs and beliefs "offend" them I know where they should go!

Am I alone here?

A PC too far if it's true.
This is very unlikely to be true.
I too would like to see confirmation as in a piece by the local press please.
crossed posts, thank you.
Why do you think all the immigrants are queueing up to come to the UK, the first phrase they learn is "I know my rights" and everyone immediatley has a panic attack in case they offend them. I lived in the middle east years ago and I remember the poilice coming into the hotel and banning the christmas party because it was a christian festival. When in Rome etc etc.

"UPDATED: 01:13, 4 December 2008"

Recent then!

Also it doesn't say it was because of offence at all
Also nothing to do with 'offending' anyone - a clash of two different festivals.
The way I read it is that they had to cancel/postpone the nativity show because it was on during Eid when a lot of the children would be absent from school (and there could not take part in it). It just reads as a case of piss poor planning on the part of the school.
Yes what is the relevance of a 2008 date to today?

This is shyte stirring for the sake of it.
Well, sorry to say but the stupid ends that some folks go to in order not to offend the muslims, really offend ME, this is OUR country, why are we allowing other ethnic groups to take over so we are afraid to be what we are.
This is soemthing which is solely the fault of the school and their lack of planning and good judegment. I think one of the Muslim parents summed it up perfectly.

"Sajad Hussain, 35, of who has two children at the school said: 'My children will be off for the two days next week to see their family.

'It's not that complicated; they could have one event on one day and another on another day, they should have both celebrations at the school.

'If you do not have both it becomes a racist thing and that's why you have to be careful if an issue is made out of it it could become nasty.' "

Which it now has.

doesn't make any difference when it was, it still happened. Also irrelivant that was because of clash of two festivals. Nativity is done at Christmas for Christians, if a foreign religion/culture doesnt like it then tough. but NO!!!!
The Eid al-Adha in 2012 was on Friday, the 26th of October - not December - it moves back on average 10 days a year.....
Didn't even see that this fiasco was in 2008- so what is the relevance of this story please now?
Cecil, what are you on about? Have you even read the article??!!
Read it again...nothing to do with offending anyone,
