Can Churchill's funeral be used as a precedent?

Is there a danger of re-opening old wounds?

By the way - I don't even know whether it's being considered yet!

Personally I wouldn't think she warrented it but politically I'm not a fan. However it seems she's getting one regardless of what I think :c)
yes she should

Wow!

I mean...wow!
Personally, I don't think so - but it's not my decision.
I would have thought that the polarised view expressed in a couple of other threads demonstrates that feelings still run very high. I would have thought security would be a potential issue.
I just heard on the radio it would not be a state funeral, but not far off.
i thought she wasn't having a state funeral as per her wishes
how would it be funded and could we afford the same as churchill had? His was massive. how could the financial expenditure be justified in light of the recent benefit cuts?
No.
From BBC;

She will not have a state funeral but will be accorded the same status as Princess Diana and the Queen Mother.
Definitely NO!

I don't think someone whose policies devastated the country should even be considered for it. She did well fighting Britain's corner against other countries, but was not beneficial regarding internal policies and so no, overall not a candidate.
Ironic, isn't it, that I was reading this just before I saw the news about mrs T's passing.

Yes.
Ah, 10ClarionSt, at last a fair and balanced view. And you managed to get a reference to Hitler in, too.

However, you might agree that the country was in a state before her and in one after, so it might be appropriate. What are your views on Tony Blair? Did he not once say he admired her?
I once read that when you bring Nazi or Hitler in to a debate that is not specifically about them - you automatically lose!
Tony Blair was a tory masquearding as a labourite imo .....
Breaking news on Sky is that there will be a ceremonial funeral with military honours at St Paul's Cathedral. Can't say that I'm sorry she's gone.
