I think Asda are pretty reasonable on prices, even compared to Lidl/Aldi. Morrisons next then Tesco, Sainsburys and never Waitrose.

Quite spoilt in Bolton with 4 Asda'a, 2 Morrisons, couple of Lidl's and Aldi's.
I do all my grocery shopping on line with Tesco. I haven't stepped a foot in any of their stores for at least 5 years.
Waitrose has a Post Office, so I go there for the PO & sometimes buy the odd loaf of bread there.
Also stay for lunch.

Jem.

Sainsburys, Waitrose and M&S just because I find the fruit and veg is better than our other local stores. I buy meat from Mum and Dad's local butcher and fish from their local fishmonger (I haven't found any good ones in Edinburgh!)...We have a mahoosive Tesco store nearby but it is just far too mahoosive! I could spend waaaay too much time and money in there!

Exactly headwreck! :)
To those who shop online........Are the sell by dates good. When I shop I always go to the back of the shelf for the best dates. The front of the shelf is nearly always today or tomorrow.
Main shop at Lidl have to top up at only other the hated coop, so over priced and ruining our town but have no alternative.

Jeza, if I ever shop online I always put in the "notes" bit that I would like long-dated items. If not then they will be returned with the driver. I have never had a problem :)
I never buy fresh stuff on line Jeza .I just use it for basically what I call non foods .Tins, packets, bulky stuff ,booze etc . When I have ordered fresh stuff in the past I've often found the dates a bit short ,unless of course you're buying stuff to freeze straight away.
Waitrose for preference, sometimes Tesco because it's the easiest one to get to.
If you order a product from Waitrose and they only have one with a short shelf life they send you it for free...............
If I ever shop on line I will remember that V&C.
I wish we had a Waitrose . I used to shop there a lot when we lived in London .
The nearest one here is about thirty miles away and they don't deliver this far east :(
The nearest Lidl to me is about 12 miles away (thank god) We went once to have a look, bought nothing and haven't been back.
We've only had a Waitrose in York for the last 2/3 years. They must be doing okay as they are now building a huge John Lewis store as well.
Lidl is great for freshly baked bread Jeza - only recently introduced their own bakeries in store :)
Aldi. Top quality and dirt cheap.
When the local Aldi first opened you could gauge the bulk of the customers by the car park being full of 20 year old VWs with Polish registrations. Now the same car park is full of 5-series BMWs and E-Class Mercs, with the customers shoehorning their bargain basement buys into Waitrose bags.
Oooh yes ..the rolls are lovely Ann. We go there because of the German food .
Mr S likes those revolting herrings in cream .
