Flowers

Has anyone else noticed large differences in their flowers this year? My paeonies only had 3 flowers (last year over 100) = Gazanias have and are still flowering magnificently- last year just few blooms and they stayed in ground over winter -Japanese anemone cracking show of flowers - trailing petunias (in hanging basket) absolute disaster, already died off - foxgloves over 7ft tall at the finish-and hollyhocks which I bought as doubles are all singles but over 8ft high and beautiful. Gladiolas failed to flower as did my special iris (which are 6 years old) They look healthy.

Hi, Julia.....I filled the patio pots with trailing petunias and I'm so disappointed....they went leggy and are now dying off as you say.....

Hollyhocks were nice but grew too tall this year....

I have, my anemones are more than TWICE the height they normally reach. They are taller than me. Same with Antirrhinum, and crocosmia Lucifer.
My Sambucus Niger is almost 8 feet high.
Most of my plants are the tallest they have ever been.

I agree, it seems like a bad year for many flowers.
I put it down to extremes of weather, very wet to very dry, flowers don't know where they are!!

My Hibiscus, Bluebird, has been magnificent. Previously very few flowers. My foxgloves have been very tall. My gladioli seem to have died off. The most prolific have been the Hydrangeas. Wonderful.

I've noticed they've changed ownership as well,last year when the patio roses were full of bloom and looked fantastic they were Trishes,this year when they're not doing so well they're mine again.

Everything, including petunias, seems to have flowered well in my garden but they've gone over very quickly. The olearia (daisy bush) which smells amazing and the insects love was here and gone in no time.
