Of all people, I'm surprised at Fiona Bruce mispronouncing the French city Reims as "Reemz" when it should be "Rance". Shouldn't she have done her research or been properly advised?

Fiona Bruce has a degree in Modern Languages which I suspect includes French, She must have forgotten or perhaps was looking at her bank balance instead

She pronounced Cawdor as Cor-dor when she was there doing the Antiques Roadshow. Should be Caw-der... I'm still not over the irritation.
The English say that Reims rhymes with France but of course it doesn't if you are French.

She should be shat:)
If these foreigners are going to pronounce their words all funny, then they have to expect us to correct them by Anglicising them.
On reflection, if Fiona was speaking English at the time then her pronunciation was correct.

After all, a Frenchman speaking French would correctly call London, Londres
If she is speaking in English, why should she use the local pronunciation, would you expect Munich or Muenchen? We can't even agree with pronunciations in English, my Yorkshire-bred OH used to visit Harewood House, the home of the Earl of Harwood, both written as Harwood! Don't get me started on Cholmonderley, its usually pronounced Chumley but this foxed Salfordians who enunciated every syllable!
well, well. I've always said(and heard) reems. And I'm always right.
If she'd have said 'Rance' no-one would have had a clue where she was talking about.
oh who cares?
I bet she didn't say La France, either.
I live just down the road from the town of Southwell or if you prefer Suthall. If the longterm residents of a place can't agree on the pronunciation of a word in their native tongue,it's no wonder they make a mess of a foriegn one.
Same near me, Paddywak, Smethwick is pronounced Smerrick
Should she say Paree for Paris, then when she is presenting on British TV?
-why would she use the French pronunciation when she's speaking English? When I'm talking about my home city Quebec in English I don't say kebek I say kwebek.
By the same token, meryl, everybody should be saying Par-ee...you didn't go on about that last week!
I live near a village called Tebworth the locals pronounce it Tebuth and Bidwell Hill is Biddle Hill.
Not far from me is Slaithwaite pronounced slawit
Don't get me started on Kilconquhar or Culross or Strathaven or Milngavie.
