Educated Guess

Ca anyone tell me what an educated guess is? People on quizzes say that they have made an educated guess, then they invariably get the answer wrong.

A wild guess, which they think has some logic or basis in fact?

A 'Stab' at it, based on some knowledge

Based on education or experience and not just random

so if you are asked who was the last king henry ( eighth remember )

and you sort of know Henry VI had eight wives or was it henry Viii had six ?
Then you could make an educated guess
( rather than 24 )

Unfortuately people tenda say - well the French had 18 Louies so making an educated guess ..... and get it wrong

you could make an educated guess

Educated guess. Knowing something that suggests to you what the right answer is, but not knowing for sure. Differs from a normal guess it that then you haven't any real idea.
