Stephen Fry To Leave Qi

Everyone to their own, but its one of my favourite programs, for laughs & finding incredible facts.

Unfortunately, Sandi Toksvig is taking over, and I cant stand her.

I can't stand Sandi Toksvig either - she reminds of an old aunt - and I never liked her either - couldn't stand her - in fact. So wouldn't look at anything Sandi would be in - used to love 15-1 but when she took over wouldn't look at it.

It's a shame Stephen Fry is leaving the show - perhaps he'll make the odd return as a guest.

I think Sandi Toksvig will do a fine job once she's settled in. She's well-spoken, knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects & sharp-witted with it - I like her, always have.

I don't think Fifteen to One's downfall was due to Sandi - I think the programme was dumbed down considerably after William G Stewart's reign.

But ST taking over will ruin yet another half decent Programme for me.

I am not sure how many people know this but Stephen Fry was not the first choice to be host.

At one time there was a plan to be two teams, a "bright" team with Stephen as team leader, and a "dim" team with Alan Davies as team leader.

The choice for host was Michael Palin.

But Michael Palin did not want to do it, so when they came to record the "pilot" show they put Stephen in as host just to "fill in", and the rest as they say is history.

I haven't watched Dr Who since William Hartnell left. I'm sure I haven't missed much.

These shows are never the same without the original host, couldn't watch 15 to 1 when Sandy Toksvig took over, although Have I Got News For You is brilliant with Ian and Paul but Angus Deayton was the best! The worst takeover of a show host is Keith Lemmon on Through The Keyhole!

I shall miss him on QI.....the chemistry between Fry and Alan Davis was wonderful.
I like Sandi Toksvig.....can't think of anyone better to take over if Stephen Fry is leaving....

I did wonder about News Quiz/Extra when Sandi left.....but Myles Jupp is doing a grand job so things can move on and be successful.....x

It always fascinates me when we get threads like this, with all the different opinions. I'm sure we all wonder how other people can like our dislikes and vice versa .

For the record, here's my views on most mentioned so far..

Stephen Fry - not my cup of tea at all
Sandi Tosvig - can't stand her
William G Stewart - brilliant
Mel and Sue - passable - just
Ant and Dec - terrible
Alan Davies - unbearable
Angus Deayton - excellent on HIGNFY
