broken news

i've seen this hailed as the comedy of the moment. tv reviewers are going mad for it.
the trailers made it look like a cheaply made, poor man's 'the day today' and after watching it last night for 10 minutes (that's all i could stand), that's exactly what it appeared to be.
am i missing something? or is it really as bad as i thought it was?

It is quite the worst television I have seen for a long time. TV reviewers haven't seen it as far as I can tell. Reading into it to try and justify it's place, suggesting it's intelligent is giving it far too much credit. I remember something years ago called "Haywire" on BBC2 which tried something like this and it was terrible back then. The Day Today was genuinely innovative, with its performers breaking new ground also. This contains some of the worst comedy acting ever - with the clown doing the fashion report the worst offender in my eyes. Terrible - steer well clear.
