I loved this sitcom when it was on in the early 90s. Hyacinth Bouquet was a brilliant character and I started watching the reruns since before Clive Swift passed away a few weeks ago. I love it so much that I bought the box set with the Xmas specials.

Bizarrely, I couldn't get into One Foot in the Grave which was on around the same time. For some reason it didn't appeal to me. Other comedies I have watched time and time again are Blackadder and Red Dwarf....and Friends!

Probably been asked a million times before on AB but what comedy could you watch over and over?

Phoenix Nights
We both loved ‘Ever Decreasing Circles’
Last Of The Summer Wine
Agree with Black Adder, Red Dwarf, Pheonix Nights, my all time favourite is Black Books.
I can watch Father Ted etc but my humour tends to be quite dark, so MASH when I saw the series after everyone telling me how much I would love it was like Nirvana for me ( and I got a massive crush on Alan Alda :) x
I found KUA a bit OTT. Nice in small doses but couldn’t watch a box set I think.
Phoenix Nights was indeed wonderful. The one where the horse gets in the club ... :-)
Blackadder probably or Father Ted.
I couldn't watch Keeping Up Appearances - there's just something about Roy Clarke's writing that sets my teeth on edge. I always hoped that, in the end, it would be revealed that Richard had been having an affair with a woman who didn't completely emasculate him - I'd definitely have watched the episode where Hyacinth learned the truth.

There are some comedy shows that I will always watch if I'm channel-surfing: Father Ted, Dad's Army, The Young Ones, Blackadder, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory etc.
Not forgetting Only Fools and Horses!
Black Adder,Phoenix Nights and Early Doors.
Forgot about Early doors. Another favourite!
I adored One Foot from episode one, and right through.

I think people misunderstood Victor, he wasn't miserable for the sake of it, he was a man who found himself confounded at every step by circumstances, but was, as the subtlety showed, a deeply caring and sensitive man underneath it all.

Great comedy is about characters with depth- remember the fleeting mention of the Meldrews' child which clearly did not survive infancy? Mentioned once in all those series, and never referred to again - fantastic writing.

I am really enjoying watching all the episodes of Friends which are re-running now, and I adore serious sarcastic humour like Fawlty Towers and The Office.

Can't wait for Alan Partridge tomorrow!
one foot..only fools, father Ted, Fawlty Towers, Bread ..Liver Birds and still game
Agreed with you Andy, until you mentioned The Office and Alan Partridge.
Frasier ( new series very likely )

Blackadder

Minder( comedy drama )

Only fools n horses
Blackadder, Only Fools and horses, fawlty towers, Black Books, Spaced, the office, fleabag. Never heard of Phoenix Nights, might give it a go.
I too found One Foot in the Grave, funny.
Also, The Office. So uncomfortably hilarious!
As for Alan Partidge, Can't wait!
Yes Minister/Prime Minister.
Father Ted.

There are some classic one-liners in Only Fools and Horses but I am not sure that I would like to watch the whole series again.
Question Author
I love The Office and Extras.
Extras was amazing tigger- did you see 'Derek'? That was a work of art.
Question Author
I watched some of Derek a few years ago and then Virgin took it off and I forgot about it. Will have to watch it again now that I've got a choice between Sky, Prime and Netflix!
