Why Do Documentaries And Reality Shows Have To Show Clips Of What's Coming Up?

They spend about 2 or 3 minutes at the beginning of every show, showing clips of what's coming up, why? I'm sure this never used to happen and I don't need to know, I will take it as it comes.

I very rarely watch any TV now in real time. Instead, I record it and watch it later so as I can fast forward through adverts and "coming up" segments.

I think they have always done it. They show what's coming up in the episode to try and tempt people to watch it, I thought that was obvious!

it's the current way, every show is pre spoiled, I have no idea why they do it its just infuriating. I've posted on here about it many times.

ratter, yes but you are watching it! Perhaps they are worried that you might not watch the whole thing. TBH you only have to watch the first few minutes anyway!

Some reality shows show what's coming up at the start of the show and just before each break. After each break they recap. Record and fast forward through the rubbish and you end up with about 10 minutes of proper content per 30 minutes of show.

Its just padding to fill the 30 minute or 1 hour slot, and extend the series to more episodes than necessary. I can live with that, but I can't be doing with tangent activity time fillers.

I think it's legalised cheating. They make a 50 min programme and show enough bits twice to make it last an hour. My favourite hates are the Police Interceptor type programmes where they have a preview at the start and after every set of adverts re-show the previous several minutes shown before the ads.

I agree with RATTER, I have absolutely no problem with it. If I want to see what's coming up...l watch the preview. Sometimes it reminds me not to spend too much time in the kitchen if there's a segment that is of particular interest.

They start with one then stop , then start another , then stop , start another , then stop, then return to the first one then stop , then return to the second then stop ,then....
