i could afford to outfit the living room with reasonably priced antiques, but as i said i recently changed all the tables to a particular style, not antiques.
Neither can we but got some nice looking bits from Jens astute eye. Got our leather settee from local paper it came with recling chair, which we sold for the same as we paid for both, just needed some elbow grease to clean it up.
well that article does say that an antique is >100 years but there are folk trying to hijack the concept to lower it to 50. Personally, I think it comes down to whether you like it, antique or collectable or whatever. I'll also add that I'm not a great fan of Art Deco or the 40s/50s stuff....
some stuff from yesterday could be cool to buy, some stuff from 100 years ago may not. Personally i would have liked to stock my living room full of antiques, but lack of funds doesn't allow me that privilege. Not only that i would be afraid of buying an antique only to discover it wasn't. I like Chippendale, Adams, and not Conran.
