Looking back, and allowing for the fact that what was served, and enjoyed, as entertainment, was very different years ago, how many of you really thought the following were actually any good at all -

Mike And Bernie Winters
The Goodies
Mike Yarwood
On The Buses
Stanley Baxter

I can honestly say that collectively and individually, I have never so much as raised a smile at any of them, ever.

Any thoughts?

Liked Stanley Baxter and The Goodies. Mike Yarwood could be okay, not the others.
Bobbi, jack got it right.
I liked Baxter, The Goodies and Call My Bluff.
Stanley Baxter was part of my childhood. We never missed his TV shows in the 60s and 70s. He could impersonate anybody. A fine film actor too.

The Goodies were great at the time because there was virtually nothing like them. They have not dated well. Watching a Goodies show nowadays, even the classics like Kung Fu Kapers, is not a joyful experience.
Mike Yarwood made his name impersonating Ted Heath and Harold Wilson, so when they went he went with them.
Stanley Baxter lived with his male partner , a good looking young man with blonde hair, we wentbto the clubhouse for a quiz with them , they were great company
Mike and Bernie Winters were big TV stars when I was a small sprog and as such I found them hilarious, I can still remember seeing them in panto at the Hippodrome Birmingham when I was about 7 years old. The Goodies were OK but like MPFC some of their sketches were funny some not so funny imo. On the buses was pretty funny when I was about 12 years old ( poor old Blakey ). Liked Mike Yarwood for his impressions ( especially Edward Teef ). And Stanley Baxter was clever imo.
I bumped ( literally) into Bernie Winters with Schnorbitz the dog, on High Bridge in Newcastle , they were appearing in Panto at the theatre Royal
A big dog to bump into that, Bobbi.
He certainly was Tony
I recall all of them even though I was very young at the time. I remember the Goodies tune and the giant kitten but that's about it.

My dad loved Ain't Half Hot Mum, Some Mother's Do Ave Em, Morcombe & Wise, Two Ronnies etc so we watched all of those when I was growing up.

I only started finding my own way in comedy with Blackadder, The Young Ones, Bottom, Red Dwarf and so on.
None of them.
Mike yarwood was always mike yarwood imho.
The goodies were so silly i couldnt help but laugh. I vaguely recall not the 9 o clock news being quite funny.
Morecanbe wise
Fools and horses
Steptoe son
Little and large
Cannon ball

Tbh. No couple comedians did it for me
Oh the most cringeing of all times

Mrs brown sons how they made it i will never know
Mike Yarwood was ok and I found some of The Goodies funny and some puerile. Mike and Brnie winters were about as funny as toothache.
Never seen any of them, heard of half. There was lots of rubbish in the old days- the two Ronnies, last of the summer wine, Allo allo, most comedians. I did like Jasper Carrott, Dave Allen... but I'm glad we have more choice now.
Bkackadder was brilliant, tiggs :-)
None of them did much for me - except "On The Buses". Not for the stories (uninspiring) or the acting (mediocre to poor). It was the buses. The green "Luxton & District" buses (not the red "Town & District" ones crewed by Stand & Jack) shown in the shows were actually Bristol Lodekkas, operated by the Eastern National bus company. The depot used in the series was Eastern National's Wood Green depot in North London, where the company operated their route 251 from there to Southend-on-Sea.

I was (and still am) a bus enthusiast and I lived a couple of miles from Wood Green. I used the 251 frequently as I had family in Essex. The "Lodekka" is a fine bus and was revolutionary when introduced (though I won't bore you further with the reason why - you can find out if you're interested from the link below.) A number of them are preserved.

Quite honestly, looking back, most of the programmes mentioned were dire. But as mentioned, that was what was churned out at the time.
Pixie. What choice
