Looking back, and allowing for the fact that what was served, and enjoyed, as entertainment, was very different years ago, how many of you really thought the following were actually any good at all -

I can honestly say that collectively and individually, I have never so much as raised a smile at any of them, ever.

I don't think there is anything more diversive than comedy. Some of the most popular and long lasting sitcoms of all time I find as funny as a yeast infection: One Foot In The Grave, Keeping Up Appearances, even Only Fools and Horses do absolutely nothing for me, yet put me in front of the absurd or surreal, such as Python, Milligan's Q, Mighty Boosh, Eddie Izzard, and I'm in my element.

I do. Charlie Drake in 'The Worker' with Henry McGee as Mr Pugh, which Charlie would always pronounce as Mr Poo.

I never found Frankie Howerd funny as a comedian. His performances were mainly innuendo, a bit like Max Miller.

As far as comedy double acts went, Burke and Hare were funnier than Mike and Bernie Winters. IMHO of course :-)

Some of the old ones may have been dire but many were better than the new so called comedies and comedians. Back in the day I could watch a full DVD or Video of comedians but find it hard to these days. Just don't find many of them funny for more than a few minutes. Many of the ones I used to like would not be shown these days as they would be classed as not pc, sexist or racist when in fact both sides would give it as well as take it. One of my favourites was Married With Children who were really just a disfunctional family but they wouldn't dare show anything like it these days.
