I am the first to understand that comedy is subjective - I have a member of my family whom I love dearly, notwithstanding that she thinks Michael McIntyre is funny ...
But I watched about twenty minutes of Eddie izzard on tv tonight, and I simply don't get it
I couldn't raise a smile if my life depended on it, so what am I missing?
I find myself simultaneously laughing like a drain at his jokes, while simultaneously saying to myself - you are a horrible human being for laughing at this. I guess you can;t control what makes you laugh.
I also like Chubby Brown, partly for the sheer honesty of the way he presents his comedy persona, but also I like the tone of his voice, his accent, and the little dances he does.
ummm - // I used to get annoyed by Micheal MacIntyre but he's grown on me. //
I've never managed to get past his flutey voice, his floppy hair, his too-tight suits, and the way he minces around the stage.
And as I might have mentioned previously when this subject comes up - Amanda Hart irritates me so much that even a still picture of her makes me pull a face!
It's interesting how one comedian can appeal, and another can totally annoy, and people who share those different views find it hard to see and hear what the other person sees and hears.
well Andy, I think the fact you like Chubby Brown and Bernard Manning is a good indicator, you are never going to find modern comedians funny because they don't tell jokes, they just relate everyday life. I don't mind Manning but CB I just find very foul mouthed and as funny as Ear ache, I have seen him live and was very disappointed.
OMG I don't know anything about Chubby Brown so just YouTubed him for about 60 seconds. The F word in practically every sentence and then the C word. Funny???
