Freedom day should have marked the start of a economic recovery, but no, we have hammered a new nail through our foot. Turn the kin thing off NOW! Does anyone support the "pingdemic"? All it's done is create a method of bunking off work. Surely the government can see it serves no purpose. What was the purpose of the vaccine if we still carry on like there isn't one?
“ the app is fine, it is performing its function as designed” Yes fair comment. What is rubbish is the fact that the govt didn’t anticipate this situation. And is now not acting decisively to deal with it. In fact worse, sending out confused messages
I can see no other reason to continue with this other then trying to justify it because it cost so much to introduce. Unfortunately our government is a mixture of arrogance and stupidity, a lethal combination.
Mind you I’m not sure who coined the term
“Freedom Day”
It was never going to be that as soon as the Delta variant kicked in.
I note that the number of cases has started to fall - it will be interesting to see if it rises again and if so by how much
ich: "They’d have to admit that the app is rubbish. " - the app is fine, it is performing its function as designed. The problem is that we do not need that function now we are mostly vaccinated and it's now a liability. The app would have been great at the start of all this.
TTT, I think everyone’s is , I’ll not turn my back on them but I now feel he’s making to many Faux pas now, it’s been extremely hard for the man but mistakes are being made regularly , he either needs a sabbatical or needs to step down to to allow a fresher visioned person to take over
I've never had the app and I think it's doing a lot of damage now, but if it's turned off he'll be accused of allowing the virus to run rife and putting money before lives. He can't win.
Damn, I'm agreeing with both Tora and Naomi on the same thread! ☺
I never downloaded it either, but as Naomi said, they cannot turn it off without massive fallout. It was a terrible idea in the first place (with hindsight of course) but Boris has left it too long now. He's backed himself into a corner.
Me too, I really like the man but I feel he’s burnt himself out now and who can blame him with that, he’s had Covid and been dealing with a pandemic of huge magnitude
Was Track & Trace only supposed to be implemented up to the vaccine programme? Then taken out of use once that got up and running? Not sure. I think I read that somewhere. I agree with TTT though, that it seems to be a good excuse to bunk off work in the middle of a heat wave.
