Anyone watching this (thinking Gness in particular)?
Shocking behaviour by the Catholic church yet again. Babies being shipped overseas for sums of money, Mums being told their babies have died.
Why is it only now these things are being talked about.

Nothing to worry about there then - it's just the more realsitic situations caused by these deeply evil people that have to be dealt with.

Yes Barsel I did watch it - there were bits of it that I had seen before. All very harrowing but on YouTube some time ago watched the actual interviews of ladies who lost their children to the nuns - one lady lost 3 children, another two women who were 13 years old at the time were able to escape jumping into a laundry lorry - now I'm talking about Magdalene Laundry - but wherever county she was in the laundry - walked to Dublin. Getting refreshments along the way from the gypsies along the roads.

I do have cousins (siblings) who are nuns and they have been very good and kind to me. One is deceased (she was a head nun in England) the other is still alive and well and lives in Jerusalem (I am fond of them).

When we talk about the general nuns ie my family and friends we do come to the conclusion that many of these women never wanted to become nuns but for "status" sake were forced by their wealthy parents to become nuns - so they resented this, sexually repressed and angry so I figure they took it out on the little ones who had "no voice".

My friend was telling me that some nun had been cruel to her own friend in her school many many years ago and that the friend "jumped" her - ie beat her up - tore off her wimple and veil. I'm sure that friend paid for that. My own head nun who was a very famous nun was pretty cruel - slapped your hands and verbally cruel particularly to the poorly dressed children. I was terrified of her.

But you know on reflection - what were they - they were just ordinary women who wore the habits which made them very formidable and that gave them a sense of power. I would love to say more but I'll leave it at that.

Takes place in many countries and not only Catholics, Barry.
The Church of England forgave 390 convicted paedophiles (clergy and people in positions of trust) and allowed them to continue officiating and work with children.

That there are people who think it only happened in Catholic Ireland shows us that it in not taken seriously enough and efforts to keep it hidden are successful.

I do, JJ and I follow what Catherine Corless does. She was given an award this week. Well deserved but she's such a shy woman she just wants to get on with what she's doing to right such evil wrongs.
