Reality is as entertaining. The city of Portsmouth decided in 1995 to build an iconic tower for the Millenium.  The problem was the council were so incompetent drawing up a contract etc that the work didn't start until 2001 so to avoid embarrassment they changed the name to Spinnaker Tower.

Is that the same as the Millennium Bridge. Yes I'd have guessed something rather than passed. I'd have guessed 2000 but it could have been 1999 (maybe 31 st Dec) or 2001- would those have been daft answers? Maybe they thought -which millennium?
