Britannia rule the waves. The British Navy might have to sell off £3,500,000,000 HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier to a friendly nation at a knockdown price Because of a cash strapped Royal Navy. Thanks to the present Tory Govt.

Looks like Rule Britannia have got these aircraft carriers but can not afford to operate them.

Question Author

HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth cost a combined £7 billion but today it is widely accepted that the UK will not be able  to operate them independently.

They should anchor it out at the Falklands as a reminder to the Argies.

Is there a link to this?

The Telegraph three hours ago reported the navy saying this rumour isn't true.  I'll leave you to post a link.

//Last night a naval source told the Mail the nightmare scenario of selling a carrier to spare funds had been discussed by members of the Maritime Enterprise Planning Group, which looks at future considerations and strategies.//

He posted 3 times to try and draw people in.

Oh so it's nonsense.  In which case, is it really news?  Or just a fantasy?

Operate independently? They've not operated at all yet. Well they did manage a few hundred yards out of the dock before the elastic band snapped.

Its always a worry when you hear... we are fully committed. I remember this being said time and time again about HS2.

will Gully get a 3-5 percent fee for selling it to the Black Sea fleet - after all, they could do with a boost to their ship numbers?

"...sources claimed..."

Hmmm

DTC 18.42 ??

Seems like the Uk built these carriers but can not operate them it takes a lot of back up to supply these ships. 700 crew members are needed to operate just one of them and that means a lot of supply ships to follow The service has only one solid stores ship and she is nearing retirement They just didn't think it out did they. ..Should have stayed with banana boats🤣

Gulliver, the navy says it's not true.  See my post at 17.43.

Seems like these two carriers will have to be mothballed or shared owner-ships with another Nato Country, The UK can not afford to operate them... Probably because they are spending too much on housing immigrants .

They best make use of the boats the immigrants come over in.

For gulliver and the spare ed.
