Absolutely brilliant film based on the story of Paul Rusesabagina, a hotel manager in Rwanda, who sheltered over a thousand people when one of the two Rwandan tribal factions began slaughtering the other. Totally gripping, and tragic, brilliant acting and makes you wonder why such things can happen/be allowed to happen in modern times.

Actually, foget them. Man On Fire.... fantastic film.
..Blow ... with Johnny Depp," a true story of George Jung, the man who established the American cocaine market in the 1970's"...sounds bloomin awful... but it's a funny, touching and moving story of one man's rise and fall..... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0221027/#comment
...Leon... superb no more to be said, my fave film of all time.... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110413/
Very funny and very sad too.
One of the nicest films ive seen in a long time.
Thanks ABers, I knew you would not let me down. I have seen Hotel Rwanda, Leon , the Terminal and the Green Mile. O'Bonio what is Man on Fire about please?
Sooper I nearly got Crash out the other week, think I may give it a go. Funny but it makes me think of that other movie of same name(?) which was an awful crash-victim-voyeurism thing. I also love the sound of Blow. Ecoman what is Gattica about and Khana, what is Wolf Creek about please, they could be good you say. Thanks, just don't wanna regret my choice!
By the way has anyone ever seen the movie Sleepers. Fantastic, true story I think.
sunflower, Man On Fire is brilliant, it's 2 hours long but you put it on and then suddenly it's finished. I find it hard to sit through films, I fidget and have to make a cuppa, stick the washing, on, etc but couldn't move throughout this film.
It sounds like we like the same sorts of films!
I have Blow at home and on the DVD special features Johnny Depp goes to meet the real george Jung who is in prison with a hidden camera, it's afab interview and scary how alike they look. johnny Depp is fab in this film. Another gripping "real time" film is called Nick of Time, staring Depp, who is a normal bloke whose daughhter is kidnapped and will not be returned until he assassinates the governess. It's fab as the film is as it says (duh) and for every minute that you are watching it is a real minute in the film.

You might have seen Delores Claibourne as it is fairly old (mid 90's I think) but it is really good, I love Cathy Bates and in this she's like a Misery character that actually love.
Once Were Warriors:

Just remembered this on, one of my absolute favourite films of all time. Totally gripping, sad, graphic..... Oh my God, it's just one of the best films ever ever ever made. Other people please write and say how good it is!!
