i missed the end of doctor who last night (love and monsters) did u find out why the doctor was in the boys house?

Yeah, there was some kind of shadow monster thing, which it never actually showed, and the Doctor was there to kill it. Sadly he didn't manage to save the boy's mum which the shadow thingy killed first.
