I just wanted to write this.......my daughters best friend was given vouchers for skiing lessons at that new skiing place near the Trafford Centre for her 40th birthday. Whilst there she fell very badly and one of the skis didn't release as it should have so resulted in a broken femur, she also dislocated her knee and her leg ended up back to front (ouch). She is very distressed becaus there is also very severe damage to tendons and lots of other bits and pieces. She has been told it will be at least 18 months before any recovery will be realised and then she may have to use a walking stick at best. She is a lovely woman who like my daughter was just completeing her training as a solicitor but her world has crumbled. The docs tell her that she is in danger of gangrene as well as she is completely immobilised so a vigilant nursing regime is in place. Yoiu don't have to comment if you don't want I just wanted to tell someone.

Life is like an eggshell puss.It can crumble in seconds for any number of reasons. That sounds truly tragic.

Life is short and frgaile
Well puss, I know that accidents happen especially in that kind of sport, but going on what you wrote it would appear that there was some faulty equipment involved which obviously caused so much damage to your daughters friend,
I am not an expert in these kind of procedings, but I would think a good lawyer is in need here,

Pete.

Well according to the docs it is very important with this kind of injury to get the leg moving to help the circulation but because they can't put a cast on yet she is unable to get out of bed, and they can't operate yet becaus her leg is very very swollen.
Sorry to hear that puss_b I just dont know what to say as I am not very good at these sort of things but a post on here yesterday sort of sums it up how life is so fragile just one little thing can turn your life right around.

I did not know what to say but I tried for you in my clumsy sort of way.
Aah puss, sweetie!! That's just awful xxxxxxx

Yes the equipment seems to be at fault but at the moment this poor woman can only think about her predicament.
Oh dear..." there but for fortune...".......yes life IS fragile, but it is still meant for living. Your daughter's friend must keep as optimistic as possible-it will aid her recovery.. Best wishes to her.
That's awful, the poor thing! I took my ex to there for his birthday a few months ago.

I'll keep an ear out as it's possible I may even know them as I'm a solicitor in Manchester.

Strangely enough a friend of mine on a work trip (also a solicitor) fell awkwardly while snowboarding and broke both wrists very badly and was off work for a long time recovering. In her favour (if you can call it that!) her work were great though it was a work trip she was on.

I know a good osteopath if she is in need of any further therapy at any point.

What have her work said? Is she just finishing her training contract?
What a terrible thing to happen puss_boots.

I hope they can work wonders for this poor woman & that she recovers to persue her career. -xx-
Sorry to hear of your friends accident pussnboots . It's bad that the equipment was faulty and that she suffered such a bad fall. At 40 she's fortunately young enough to recover well from this , even though it may be a long recovery process . I do hope she pursues her chosen career . xxx
Oooh,that sounds really nasty!
My heartfelt thoughts are with your friend puss.
I really hope she manages to recover enough to get about a bit.It must be terrible for something like that to happen.
