Are there any black people in the film , i have been told there arn,t and if so is there any explanation for this

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.maybe because they didn't find any black actors who they thought fitted the parts. I think its unfair to think you need a "token black guy" in every movie - thats down grading. Its better to decide whether someone should or shouldnt play a part because of their acting, not because of their skin colour.
I imagine the point olivebus is trying to make is that the film should not necessarily contain a "token black person" but given that the film is set in Notting Hill, home to the largest caribbean carnival outside of the West Indies, you would have expected to see more ethnic diversity in the casting!
I would say though that it's a relatively small cast really, and it's not uncommon, even in areas of more ethnic diversity, for there to be groups of friends who happen to be one colour. Perhaps it would have been realistic to see more black extras on the street scenes but not necessarily the main characters.
