childrens TV programme in the 90's

does anyone remember a TV program that used to be on at the weekends in the morning, the only bits we can remember is that the contestants had to go in an elevator and then scramble about in a big bowl of soup/gunge for letters???? its bugging the hell out of me, does anyone remember anything like this or better what it was called????
