// said very quickly words to the effect of "You have been in prison". I remember myself exclaiming "Ah Ha!"
Didn't anyone else hear it? //
He was explaining why he wasn't going to do anything with the shirt that he'd found in the concrete which would link Tony to the Scottish perv's death. ie 'There's nothing to be gained from turning you in - you've been (mentally) in prison anyway since 2006'.
bluebirdino //i think Baptiste meant Tony had been in his own private prison since his son went missing,//
Yes, he may have been speaking metaphorically, but where the hell else has Tony been during this time (he could never have got away with the murder surely) and only now starting his investigations, also don't forget that his wife is now married, or living with, another man who himself is part of the plot.
I think the mayor is rather dodgy.
He has been going back to France every year on the anniversary of the disappearance, this year he found new evidence so they managed to get the police to reopen the case.
I am following this ok, even though I missed the first one, but what I dont understand is why it took 8 years to dig up the concrete, wouldnt they have done this when they first realised Garrett was missing.
//The handing over of the shirt was 'now'.// thanks for that, the only way I can tell if its past or present is by Baptist's stubble! and I think it was in the dark. So are we to believe B. kept a bloodstained and concrety shirt for all that time, where in his locker? A very dangerous thing to do; withholding evidence for a murder etc.
Well it's all hokum anyway, but I'll keep watching of course.
Khandro, that evidence has only just been dug up now, in 2014. Ken Stotts estate was frozen after he went missing, it has now been released, hence the building work in the present time.
I think they should have made James Nesbitt look more different from the 'then' to the 'now', like they did with his wife - that would help - making him take his wig off for the 'now' would be an obvious change.
I believe James Nesbitt has had hair transplants, so it's not a wig. But I wish they could have made him more grey or even white (with all the worry). Or even put the appropriate date/year on the corner of the tv screen.
//Tony was never caught for Ian's murder// I think our credulity is being tested to the limits here; after battering Garret's brains out, the cabin would have been covered with blood stains, perhaps forensic science hasn't reached that part of France yet :0)
Yes, the scarf was traced to a second hand clothes shop and (miraculously) they had the address it came from 8 years previously. Then Tony found the drawing on the wall. Strangely the police are still not interested but Baptiste got that video footage taken at a party across the street showing the kidnapped Oliver (miraculously) in the background. Not sure what's going on with the chap who got his throat cut - smuggling? People smuggling maybe? Maybe Ollie is alive and well after all.
